How Caspio Partner WorkMovr and Healthier Pets Redefine Pet Wellness With Low Code
December 17, 2024
Managing a pet’s healthcare involves important tasks like scheduling vaccinations, tracking prescriptions and maintaining communication with veterinarians.
To help simplify these responsibilities, Healthier Pets, a communication platform provider for veterinary practices, teamed up with WorkMovr, a Caspio-certified partner, to create a comprehensive veterinary management app using low code. Together, they launched a solution that bridges the gap between clinics and pet owners, improves communication, automates reminders and provides instant access to important health records, making pet care more efficient for everyone involved.
Here’s their story.
WorkMovr: Experts of Low-Code Solutions
Founded by David Talbot in San Diego, California, WorkMovr has been a Caspio-certified partner for nearly 10 years. Specializing in low-code development, their team has built custom Caspio-powered solutions for industries such as healthcare, agriculture and logistics.
WorkMovr’s transition to low code was a pivotal moment. “Nine years ago, I was working on a video streaming app that traditional development methods priced it at $2 million. But I bumped into Caspio, and using its platform, we delivered the app in three months – at a fraction of the cost,” says Talbot, recalling his first encounter with Caspio. “That’s when I decided to switch the entire company to low code.”
Today, WorkMovr employs a team of 30 developers based in Armenia, delivering hundreds of hours of Caspio programming each week. Their innovative frameworks and deep understanding of the platform positioned them as the ideal partner to bring Healthier Pets’ vision to life.
Healthier Pets: Turning Challenges Into Opportunities
Founded in 2014 under a different name, Healthier Pets initially focused on personalized communication across industries like travel and hospitality. Led by Paul Hall, the company specialized in using full-color graphics and tailored content to engage customers. As advancements in printing technology made personalized communication more accessible for small and medium-sized organizations, Hall saw an opportunity to bring this approach to new markets.
The veterinary field proved to be the perfect fit. “We realized we could significantly improve client communication effectiveness in this industry,” he recalls. By partnering with veterinary experts, Healthier Pets began serving clinics nationwide, delivering customized reminders through postcards, emails and text messages to keep pet owners informed about upcoming services.
While the reminder system was effective, Hall saw an opportunity to go further. “Pet owners needed more than just reminders,” Hall explains. “They wanted a way to access their pet’s health information, look up visit details, and get a better understanding of their care — all in one place.”
Big Goals, Limited Resources
In an episode of Caspio’s “Low Code/High Impact,” podcast series, Talbot and Hall discussed the journey behind Healthier Pets’ game-changing application.
The company’s reminder system effectively utilized client and pet data but turning it into a fully functional, user-friendly platform presented a challenge. Traditional development methods were quickly ruled out due to high costs and the need for advanced programming expertise. “Building an app from scratch would have required significant resources,” Hall says. “We needed a simpler, faster solution.”
Hall began experimenting with Caspio’s low-code platform, making steady progress on his own. However, to fully bring his vision to life, he recognized the need for expert guidance. That’s when Hall partnered with WorkMovr.
“David and his team had the expertise to take our existing data and build a tailored, functional app that works seamlessly for pet owners and clinics,” Hall explains.

Expanding Pet Care Services With a Connected App
The veterinary management app that WorkMovr built for Healthier Pets exceeded expectations. Designed to simplify pet owners’ lives and streamline clinic operations, the platform delivers value on multiple fronts.
Personalized Reminders
The app sends automated reminders through channels like email, postcards, text and in-app push notifications, including vaccine due dates, breed-specific images and personalized preventive care recommendations. By directly connecting pet owners with their clinic, the app ensures pets receive timely care.
Seamless User Experience
With secure, one-click access from reminders, pet owners can log in instantly — no downloads or logins required. Whether on a desktop, tablet or smartphone, the app adapts to any device for consistent functionality.
Comprehensive Health Records
Pet owners can easily access detailed health records, including visit history, vaccination schedules, lab results and medications. The app consolidates information for all pets under one account, providing a holistic view of each pet’s health needs.
Interactive Features
Beyond reminders, the app enables owners to take immediate action. They can:
- Request Appointments: Submit preferred dates and services for vet visits.
- Refill Prescriptions: Check refills, view expiration dates and request renewals.
- Access Preventive Care Plans: View essential and recommended care, with educational explanations for each service.
- Emergency Support: Use GPS to find nearby clinics or contact emergency centers.
Client Engagement Features
To strengthen vet-owner connections, the app offers personalized, practical features. Owners can upload pet photos, which are integrated into reminders and health records, for a more engaging experience. The app also includes a pet ID section for quick access to vaccine records, useful for boarding or grooming appointments that require proof of vaccinations.
Overall, Hall reflects on how these features have greatly improved client communication. “Pet owners appreciate how simple and convenient it is to access their pet’s information, and clinics have experienced a significant improvement in compliance and efficiency,” he shares.
Why Clinics, Pet Owners Love Healthier Pets’ App
Feedback for Healthier Pets’ app has been overwhelmingly positive, with clinics and pet owners praising its user-friendly design and comprehensive functionality.
Clinics have reported a 15-20% increase in compliance rates and revenue, attributing the success to the app’s ability to simplify scheduling, streamline reminders and make preventive care more accessible for pet owners.
“Veterinarians tell us their clients rave about how simple the app is to use,” Hall says. “They particularly love being able to upload their pet’s photo. It’s a small touch but makes the experience more personal.”
The app has also reduced the workload for front-desk staff by minimizing client calls for routine information like vaccination schedules or prescription refills. This allows the entire clinic team to operate more efficiently, ensuring staff can focus on delivering exceptional care where it matters most.
Talbot emphasizes how Caspio enabled such unified functionality, saying, “The app feels effortless to users, but the technology behind it — Caspio as the system of record and connectivity — was key to making it work.”
What’s Next for Healthier Pets?
The Healthier Pets team is already planning future enhancements, including advanced analytics dashboards for clinics to track compliance, reminder effectiveness and revenue growth in real-time. They’re also developing self-serve marketing tools that allow practices to run targeted campaigns with minimal resources.
Educational content is another key focus. “We want to go beyond reminders and health records,” says Hall. “Videos from vets explaining preventive care would make the app even more engaging and empower pet owners with knowledge to support their pets’ well-being.”
In addition to new features, the team is also working on expanding the app’s reach. “We know our solution outperforms others, but we need to ensure more clinics know about us,” Hall adds, stressing the app’s ability to improve pet owner satisfaction and deliver measurable results for clinics.
