As Amazon Abandons Honeycode Users, Caspio Extends a Warm Welcome
August 28, 2023
After just three years of service, Amazon will shut down its low-code platform, Honeycode, by February 29, 2024.
Prior to this, in 2021, fellow tech giant Google also closed down its low-code builder, the Google App Maker, only five years from launching.
There was a popular adage from the 1980s: “No one ever got fired for buying IBM”. Amazon, Google and other big industry players were the equivalent of what IBM was back then – the “safe bet” or the “smart choice”, just because of their name. But times have changed. Today’s customers are discerning and careful to explore all their choices to find the best product for their needs, regardless of the brand name.
Any fundamental changes to the application development process take time, a new way of thinking and long-term commitment. Many big companies are primarily driven by profit and competition and if one project does not grow as fast as they expect, they move on. Commitment to the customer seemingly takes lower priority.
But in the realm of low code, the primary customers are non-developers who require more guidance and assistance to build their applications. Customer support should be a core value but many companies sadly treat it as a cost center that must be avoided instead.
Contrary to these businesses, Caspio is a dedicated low-code provider who understands what customers need to succeed. We at Caspio not only started this space, but we take pride in our work and are fully committed to helping companies through low code.
For over 20 years (and counting), through all sorts of economic conditions and innovations in tech, we have been on a mission to change how applications are being developed. We remain steadfast in providing a reliable business tool to our customers.
