Caspio Roadmap: Infrastructure Migration
June 26, 2012
You may already be aware that we are migrating our infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is an exciting development that makes our IT team very happy. It gives us a lot more flexibility in serving you better.
Back in 2009, we established Caspio’s production environment at Savvis, a tier 1 datacenter facility in Santa Clara, California. In those days, it was the best money could buy and we received a reliable service from them. Today, while Savvis continues to offer great service, we have decided that you deserve more.
Infrastructure-as-a-Service, or IaaS, has advanced tremendously. It no longer makes sense for companies to maintain their own server hardware. It’s an antiquated idea that limits a company’s growth and flexibility. Respectable companies such as Amazon offer infrastructure on-demand, very much the same way that Caspio offers Platform-as-a-Service on-demand. We can serve you better if we let them operate the infrastructure part of the business.
We strive to be at the cutting-edge of technology so you can benefit from the best that is available out there. AWS provides the security and reliability that we need, plus tremendous scalability in processing power, bandwidth and storage. We intend to fully utilize them to your benefit.
No action is required on your part. The entire process is transparent and is almost complete. The majority of our customers are already migrated and the remaining will be moved in the next few days. Once your account is migrated, you may notice a measureable performance improvement in your DataPages and almost everywhere else in Caspio.
Please let us know what you think about this migration, and what else you expect from Caspio’s infrastructure, by leaving a comment below.
